My Little Pony: Warriors of Rock

Chapter 5: Twilight Sparkle

The map led me to a concert hall in Manehattan where a stage had been set up, complete with a guitar, a bass, a drum set, and a microphone. A pegasus mare, an earth pony stallion, and a yellow teenage dragon stood on stage. A medium-sized crowd had gathered.

Scorpan spoke to me telepathically. "Twilight, as I told the others, the 3 you see on stage will help you. After you play 7 songs, you become your warrior self. After this is done, you just need to play one more song, and you will be ready. Your warrior power is called 'Star Power Nova.' With it, star power will triple your multiplier rather than doubling it. Once you have transformed into your warrior form, it will become 'Star Power Nova +.' With this boost, star power will sextuple your multiplier, i.e., multiply it by 6."

"Understood," I said. "Excellent," Scorpan replied. "Is there anything you'd like me to go over again?" "No need," I answered. "Good," he said. "Now, go out there and show them what you can do!" "I will," I said, walking over to the stage and picking up the guitar.

"Are you 3 ready to rock?" I asked them. They all nodded. "We're ready when you are. Just name the songs you want, and we'll handle everything on our end," the dragon said. "Ok," I said. "We're gonna play 7 of my favorite songs, and then we'll play an encore song that I think represents me and my personality." I then whispered the songs to my band mates, and they smiled. "Let's rock!" The mare said. The mare picked up the drumsticks and sat behind the drums, the stallion picked up the bass, and the dragon took the mic.

Scorpan's voice spoke out to all the ponies in the club. "Friendship has created something special in this one, but it is her magic that makes her truly shine." he said. "Fillies and gentlecolts!" I said, "Are you ready to rock?!" A roar of applause answered me. "Alright then! Enjoy the show!"

We began our 1st song. It opened with a guitar riff.

Bow, bow, bow,
Bow, bow, bow-dow,
Bow, bow, bow,
Bow, bow-dow,

Bow, bow, bow,
Bow, bow, bow-dow,
Bow, bow, bow,
Bow, bow-dow,

Shortly, the lyrics began.

We all came out to Montreux,
On the Lake Geneva shoreline,
To make records with a mobile,
We didn't have much time,

Frank Zappa and the Mothers,
Were at the best place around,
But some stupid with a flare gun,
Burned the place to the ground,

Smoke on the water,
A fire in the sky,
Smoke on the water,

They burned down the gambling house,
It died with an awful sound,
Funky Claude was running in and out,
Pulling kids out the ground,

When it all was over,
We had to find another place,
Swiss time was running out,
It seemed that we would lose the race,

Smoke on the water,
A fire in the sky,
Smoke on the water,

Then my guitar solo began. I riffed away relentlessly and the crowd roared with cheers. Eventually, my solo ended and the lyrics resumed.

We ended up at the Grand Hotel,
It was empty, cold and bare,
With the Rolling truck Stones thing just outside,
Making our music there,

With a few red lights and a few old beds,
We made a place to sweat,
No matter what we get out of this,
I know, I know we'll never forget,

Smoke on the water,
A fire in the sky,
Smoke on the water,

After that, the song ended and we began our 2nd song. The rhythm was hard to describe, but the lyrics began shortly.

Loving you
Is it the right thing to do?
How can I ever change things
That I feel?

If I could
Baby I'd give you my world
How can I
When you won't take it from me

You can go your own way,
Go your own way,
You can call it another lonely day,
You can go your own way,
go your own way,

Tell me why,
Everything turned around,
Packing up,
Shacking up's all you wanna do,

If I could,
Baby I'd give you my world,
Open up,
Everything's waiting for you,

You can go your own way,
Go your own way,
You can call it another lonely day,
You can go your own way,
Go your own way,

The 3rd verse had a rest for the lyrics, but they resumed eventually.

You can go your own way,
Go your own way
You can call it another lonely day,(Another lonely day)
You can go your own way,
Go your own way,
You can call it another lonely day,

Then, my guitar solo began and I began shredding like there was no tomorrow. Eventually my solo ended and the lyric briefly resumed.

You can go your own way…
You can all it another lonely day…
You can go your own way…

Then my ending solo began and I tore up the stage. I gave it my all. Eventually, the song ended and we began our 3rd song. The bassist started us off. The rhythm was hard to describe, but then I joined in with my guitar. My guitar even sounded like it was talking.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, wh-oh,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wh-oh,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wh-oh,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, wh-oh,

Then the lyrics began.

Once upon a time,
Not so long ago,

Tommy used to work on the docks,
Union's been on strike,
He's down on his luck it's tough,
So tough,

Gina works the diner all day,
Working for her man,
She brings home her pay for love,
For love,

She says, "We've got to hold on,
To what we've got,
It doesn't make a difference,
If we make it or not,

We've got each other,
And that's a lot for love,
We'll give it a shot,"

Whoa, we're half way there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,

Tommy got his six string in hock,
Now he's holding in,
What he used to make it talk so tough,
It's tough,

Gina dreams of running away,
When she cries in the night,
Tommy whispers, "Baby, it's okay,
Someday,

"We've got to hold on,
To what we've got,
It doesn't make a difference,
If we make it or not,

We've got each other,
And that's a lot for love,
We'll give it a shot,"

Whoa, we're half way there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,

Then my guitar solo began. I was rocking out like never before. Eventually, my solo ended and the lyrics resumed.

We've got to hold on,
Ready or not,
You live for the fight,
When it's all that you've got,

Whoa, we're half way there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,

Whoa, we're half way there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,

Whoa, we're half way there,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear,
Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer,

Eventually, the song ended and we began our 4th song. The rhythm was hard to describe, but eventually the lyrics began.

Hello,
I've waited here for you,
Everlong,

Tonight,
I throw myself in two,
Out of the red,
Out of her head she sang,

Come down,
And waste away with me
Down with me
Slow how,
You wanted it to be
I'm over my head,
Out of her head she sang,

And I wonder,
When I sing along with you,
If everything could ever feel this real forever,

If anything could ever be this good again,
The only thing I'll ever ask of you,
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when,
She sang,

Breathe out,
So I can breathe you in,
Hold you in,

And now,
I know you've always been,
Out of your head,
Out of my head I sang,

And I wonder,
When I sing along with you,
If everything could ever feel this real forever,

If anything could ever be this good again,
The only thing I'll ever ask of you,
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when,
She sang,

And I wonder,
If everything could ever feel this real forever,
If anything could ever be this good again,

The only thing I'll ever ask of you,
You've got to promise not to stop when I say when,

The song ended shortly after, and we began our 5th song. The rhythm was hard to describe, but, after a long intro, the lyrics began.

In the mornin' you go gunnin',
For the man who stole your water,
And you fire till he is done in,
But they catch you at the border,

And the mourners are all singin',
As they drag you by your feet,
But the hangman isn't hangin',
And they put you on the street,

Yeah, you go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round,
You go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,

When you know she's no high climber,
Then you find your only friend,
In a room with your two-timer,
And you're sure you're near the end,

Then you love a little wild one,
And she brings you only sorrow,
All the time you know she's smilin',
You'll be on your knees tomorrow,

Yeah, you go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round,
You go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,

Then my solo began. My star power use blew the crowd away. Eventually, my long solo ended and the lyrics resumed.

Now you swear and kick and beg us,
That you're not a gamblin' man,
Then you find you're back in Vegas,
With a handle in your hand,

Your black cards can make you money,
So you hide them when you're able,
In the land of milk and honey,
You must put them on the table,

Yeah, you go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,
Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round,
You go,
Back, Jack,
Do it again,

The song eventually ended after that. Then the dragon and the mare traded instruments and we began our 6th song.

Bow-dow,
Bdow bow-dow,
Bdow bow-dow,
Bdow bow-dow,
Bdow bow-dow…

Eventually, the lyrics began.

One way or another,
I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha
One way or another,
I'm gonna win ya
I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha

One way or another,
I'm gonna see ya,
I'm gonna meet ya, meet ya, meet ya, meet ya
One day, maybe next week, I'm gonna meet ya
I'm gonna meet ya, I'm meet ya

I will,
Drive past your house,
And if,
The lights are all out,
I'll see who's around,

One way or another,
I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha
One way or another,
I'm gonna win ya,
I'll getcha, I'll getcha

One way or another,
I'm gonna see ya,
I'm gonna meet ya, meet ya, meet ya, meet ya,
One day, maybe next week, I'm gonna meet ya,
I'll meet ya, yeah,

And if,
The lights are all out,
I'll follow,
Your bus downtown,
See who's hangin' around,

After that, my guitar solo began and I rocked the crowd's socks off with my star power. Eventually, the lyrics resumed.

One way or another,
I'm gonna lose ya,
I'm gonna give you the slip,
A slip of the hip or another,
I'm gonna lose ya,
I'm gonna trick ya, I'll trick ya,

One way or another,
I'm gonna lose ya,
I'm gonna trick ya, trick ya, trick ya, trick ya
One way or another I'm gonna lose ya,
I'm gonna give you the slip,

I'll walk down the mall,
Stand over by the wall,
Where I can see it all,
Find out who you call,

Lead you to,
The supermarket check out,
Some specials and rat food,
Get lost in the crowd,

One way or another,
Where I can see it all, find out who you call,

One way or another,
Where I can see it all, find out who you call,

One way or another,
Where I can see it all, find out who you call,

One way or another,
Where I can see it all, find out who you call,

One way or another…

Eventually, the song ended and we began our 7th song. The rhythm was hard to describe, but, eventually, the lyrics began.

You think that we connect,
That the chemistry's correct,
Your words walk right through my ears,
Presuming I like what I hear,

And now I'm stuck in,
The web, you're spinning,
You've got me for your prey…

Sorry I'm not home right now,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
So leave a message, and I'll call you back,

A likely story, but,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

You're intruding on what's mine,
And you're taking up my time,
Don't have the courage inside me,
To tell you please let me be,

Communication,
A telephonic invasion,
I'm planning my escape…

Sorry I'm not home right now,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
So leave a message, and I'll call you back,

A likely story, but,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

And it's all your fault,
I screen my phone calls,
No matter who calls,
I gotta screen my phone calls,

Now it's gone too deep,
You wake me in my sleep,
My dreams become nightmares,
'Cause you're ringing in my ears, oh,

Sorry I'm not home right now,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
So leave a message, and I'll call you back,

A likely story, but,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

And it's all your fault,
I screen my phone calls,
No matter, matter, matter, matter who calls,
I gotta screen my phone calls,

Ooh, the spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

I'm walking into spiderwebs,
So leave a message, and I'll call you back,

It's all your fault,
I screen my phone calls,
No matter, matter, matter, matter who calls,
I gotta screen my phone calls,

It's all your fault,
It's all your fault,
No matter who calls,
No matter who calls,

I'm walking into spiderwebs,
So leave a message, and I'll call you back,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

It's all your fault,
No matter who calls,
I gotta screen my phone calls,
It's all your fault,

No matter, matter, matter, matter who calls,
I screen my phone calls,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

'Cause it's all your fault,
I screen my phone calls,
No matter who calls,
I screen my phone calls,

I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,
I'm walking into spiderwebs,
Leave a message, and I'll call you back,

Then, the song ended. Scorpan's voice spoke out to all the ponies in the room. "That awe-inspiring performance will reforge you," he said. A strange blue glow surrounded my body. Suddenly, a blue flame engulfed me, and I was transformed into my warrior form: the tip of my horn became as sharp as a needle, and sharp enough to puncture the strongest steel; the feathers on my wings became as sharp as razor blades; and, to top it all off, silver boots with rubies on them. Then, Scorpan's voice spoke again, "Twilight Sparkle, step forth and illuminate the audience with your new-found power." I was ready to fight Tirek.

It was time for my encore. The mare and the dragon traded instruments again and we performed our final song. The rhythm was hard to describe, but it was too beautiful to describe anyway. Eventually, the lyrics began.

There's a lady who's sure,
All that glitters is gold,
And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

When she gets there she knows,
If the stores are all closed,
With a word she can get what she came for.

Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall,
But she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.

In a tree by the brook,
There's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get,
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.

In my thoughts I have seen,
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.

Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon,
If we all call the tune,
Then the piper will lead us to reason.

And a new day will dawn,
For those who stand long,
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow,
Don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by,
But in the long run,
There's still time to change the road you're on.

And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go,
In case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,

Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

Then, my guitar solo began. The wonderful sound that came from the strings of my guitar and my use of star power had the crowd cheering for more. Eventually, the the lyrics resumed.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.

There walks a lady we all know.
Who shines white light and wants to show.

How everything still turns to gold.

And if you listen very hard.
The tune will come to you at last.

When all is one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

With that, my performance was over. I took a bow and teleported back to my castle. "Hey, everypony! I'm back," I said. "Hey, Twi," Rainbow Dash said. "You were amazing. So what's your power?" "'Star Power Nova.' With it, star power triples my multiplier rather than doubling it," I said. "And now that I'm a in my warrior form, it's now 'Star Power Nova +.' So now, using star power sextuples my multiplier, i.e., multiplies it by 6. And, according to my watch, I got as many power stars as I possibly could. So who's next?" "ME! ME! MEEEEEEE!" Pinkie Pie shouted. "Then, here is your map," Scorpan said, giving Pinkie her map. With that, Pinkie bounced away. "I can never read that mare," I said.
